  1. Find the address. Type the delivery address to load a satellite map of the property.
  2. Drop the dumpster. A true-size 22′ × 8′ roll-off appears. Drag it into place, turn it with the round handle, and use Flip door so the white bar (the rear door) faces your work area.
  3. Leave driver notes. Surface, boards under the wheels, overhead wires or trees, gate codes, the best way in, and an on-site contact. Add a photo if you like.

Dumpster placement tips

  • Pick flat, firm ground. Driveways and parking lots are best. Grass and gravel work in dry weather.
  • Protect the surface. Ask for boards under the wheels on newer concrete or asphalt.
  • Look up. Power lines and low branches can stop the truck from setting the dumpster down.
  • Face the door to the work. You will walk heavy items in through the rear door.
  • Clear the path. Move cars, trailers and trash cans out of the way before delivery day.
  • Check street rules. A dumpster on a public street may need a city permit.

Dumpster placement FAQ

How much space does a roll-off dumpster need?

Our roll-off dumpsters sit in a footprint about 22 feet long and 8 feet wide. To set it down, the truck needs a straight, clear path about 60 feet long and 12 feet wide, plus about 23 feet of open space overhead while the bed tilts.

Can a dumpster go on my driveway?

Yes. Most residential dumpsters go on the driveway. We can put boards under the wheels to help protect concrete or asphalt. Pick "Boards under the wheels: Yes" in the tool so the driver brings them.

Can I put the dumpster on the street?

Often, but many cities require a right-of-way permit for a dumpster on a public street. Check with your city before choosing a street spot, and tell us in the driver notes so we can plan for it.

Which way should the dumpster door face?

Face the rear door toward where you will walk debris in, usually the house or the work area. Our roll-offs load from the rear door and from over the top. In the tool, the white bar marks the door and Flip door swaps the ends.

What should I keep clear of the spot?

Keep the spot clear of vehicles, low power lines and tree branches, and avoid placing it over septic tanks, sprinkler heads, or soft ground after heavy rain. Note anything like that for the driver.

Is the placement tool free?

Yes. The dumpster placement tool is free. You can download your plan as a PDF or as an image to text to your crew, and ask us for a delivery quote at the same time.
