What is an overage or overweight fee on my waste bill?

An overage or overweight fee is a charge that applies when a container provided by American On-Site exceeds its specified weight limit. Each type and size of our containers has a set weight limit, and if your container’s contents surpass this limit, you will incur overweight charges on your next invoice.

If a container exceeds the maximum legal weight limit, we will contact you prior to hauling to discuss the situation and potential solutions.

The weight limits, along with the rates and charges that could be incurred for exceeding these limits, will be discussed at the point of sale. It’s important to note that disposing of dense items—such as brick, tile, sand, and more—can easily cause a container’s weight to exceed the limit. If you have any questions or need guidance on this matter, we encourage you to contact us before filling the container. We’re here to help ensure you have all the information you need to avoid unnecessary fees.
