Questions & Answers

Navigating Your Portable Restroom Needs

OSHA has set clear standards for toilet facilities on construction sites: Basic Requirements: Employers with 20 or fewer employees must provide at least one toilet. If there are more than 20 employees, one toilet and one urinal are needed for every 40 workers. For sites with 200 or more employees, the requirement is one toilet and one urinal for every 50 employees. Facility Count Based on Workforce: For each gender, one separate toilet facility is required for every 20 employees or fraction thereof. This can include both toilets and urinals, but at least half of the facilities should be toilets. Exceptions: Workplaces with fewer than five employees can have a single all-gender toilet facility. Single-user toilet facilities designated for all-gender use count towards the required number if the total number of facilities meets the requirements, all single-user facilities are designated for all-gender use, and multi-user facilities are provided equally for each gender. Temporary Field Conditions: At least one toilet should be available. Alternative Facilities: If providing water closets isn't feasible due to the absence of a sanitary sewer or adequate water supply, alternatives like privies (if they don't contaminate water sources), chemical toilets, recirculating toilets, or combustion toilets can be used. Maintenance: Toilet facilities should be clean, functional, ensure privacy, and be stocked with sufficient toilet paper. Mobile Crews: Crews with easy access to nearby toilet facilities are exempt from these requirements. It's essential to note that these guidelines are based on OSHA standards and might vary by state. Always consult local regulations for specific requirements.

Our Restroom Trailers offer a more luxurious and spacious sanitation experience. They are designed to provide guests with a higher level of comfort and are especially suitable for special events where a more upscale restroom solution is desired.

Many of our porta potties come equipped with in-unit hand sanitizer stations. Additionally, we offer separate Portable Hand Wash Stations for events, ensuring guests have easy access to hand-washing facilities. For every four porta potties rented, we recommend having at least one hand-washing station or a porta potty with an in-unit sink.

Absolutely. We offer ADA-compliant portable restrooms designed to accommodate people with disabilities. These units are more spacious than traditional porta potties and feature amenities like grab bars and low ground clearance for easy wheelchair access. They're also suitable for families with young children.

For a four-hour event, we recommend at least one restroom for every 75 guests. For an eight-hour event, such as a concert, this number should be doubled. If alcohol is being served, it's advisable to add 20% more restrooms. Additionally, if food is being served, portable sinks or hand sanitizer stations are mandatory.
