Container Placement and Usage:

All containers will be placed on a hard or paved surface to prevent property damage. If a customer requests placement on an unpaved surface, this could result in increased costs if inclement weather prevents removal on the date requested. Costs could include:

(1) a trip fee based on location and no less than $75, and (2) additional lease fees at the current rental rate until ground conditions allow for removal. If the container is placed on an unpaved surface at the customer’s request, the customer assumes all responsibility for any increased costs and any damage to the ground or grass this may cause.

Due to safety concerns, please do not attempt to move a container once placed at your site. If you need a container moved before the final pickup, please call our customer service.

American On-Site is not responsible for accidents, injury, or damage caused by a container or to a container while the container is at the customer’s location.

If a container is overloaded, American On-Site will either charge additional fees to haul the container or require the customer to offload material before removal if the container cannot be safely hauled.

Material:

Most material is acceptable for disposal in our temporary containers. Please see the following list for exceptions. If unsure of size or material, please contact our customer service prior to placing items in containers.

Example of Allowed Materials:

1. General Household Waste: This includes furniture, toys, clothing, and other general waste items you might find in your home.
2. Construction Debris: If you’re doing a home renovation or construction project, you can typically throw away materials like wood, drywall, metal, and tiles.
3. Yard Waste: Things like leaves, grass clippings, small branches, and other organic materials are usually allowed. However, some areas have restrictions on yard waste, so it’s always a good idea to check.
4. Appliances: Most appliances are allowed in dumpsters, but they often need to be recycled separately. This can include stoves, dishwashers, washing machines, and dryers. Refrigerators and air conditioners may be accepted, but they often require special handling because of the refrigerants they contain.
5. Non-hazardous Materials: Most non-hazardous materials are allowed in dumpsters. This includes things like cardboard, paper, plastic, and most types of non-hazardous waste.

Example of Materials With Restrictions:

Materials such as rock, dirt, sand, concrete, tile, and brick are typically not permitted in most of our dumpster sizes due to their substantial weight. These materials can quickly exceed the weight limits for our trucks, as well as local and highway regulations, posing safety risks.

However, we do allow these materials in our 16-yard and 20-yard dumpsters under specific conditions. A 16-yard dumpster can be filled up to 3/4 with these heavy materials, while a 20-yard dumpster can be filled up to 1/2.

Please note that these materials are not allowed at all in our smaller 16-yard, 30-yard, or 40-yard dumpsters unless you have obtained written approval from us. This is to ensure we adhere to all safety standards and regulations.

When it comes to disposing of shingles, we do have specific restrictions based on the size of the dumpster due to weight considerations. Here are the guidelines:

• For dumpsters smaller than our 16-yard size, shingles are not permitted at all.
• Our larger 16-yard dumpster can accommodate up to 48 squares of shingles.
• A 20-yard dumpster can hold up to 60 squares of shingles.
• A 30-yard dumpster can take up to 90 squares of shingles.
• Our largest, the 40-yard dumpster, can handle up to 100 squares of shingles.

When renting a dumpster from American On-Site, it’s important to be aware of the weight limits for each dumpster size. Overloading a dumpster can result in additional fees due to the extra costs associated with hauling and disposing of the excess weight at the local landfill. Here are the weight limits for our dumpsters:

Front Load Dumpsters:

• 2 Yard: 1 ton
• 4 Yard: 1 ton
• 6 Yard: 1 ton
• 8 Yard: 1 ton

Roll-Off Dumpsters:

• 16 Yard Small: 3 tons
• 16 Yard Large: 11 tons
• 20 Yard: 11 tons
• 30 Yard: 11 tons
• 40 Yard: 11 tons

Please note that these weight limits are in place to ensure the safety and efficiency of our waste disposal process. If a container is overloaded, additional fees will apply to haul the dumpster and for the extra weight charges at the local landfill.

In the event that a container is excessively filled, American On-Site will take one of two actions. We may levy additional charges (based on local landfill rates) and for the transportation of the overloaded container. Alternatively, we may necessitate that the customer remove some of the contents to ensure the container can be safely transported.

Follow Special Instructions When Disposing Of Refrigerators, Air Conditioners, Lawnmowers, And Electronics.

How To Dispose of Electronics – Remove Batteries. DO NOT PLACE BATTERIES OF ANY KIND IN A DUMPSTER.

When disposing of electronics, it’s important to remember that they often contain components that can be harmful to the environment if not disposed of properly. Therefore, they should be recycled separately. Items like televisions, computers, and other electronics are typically allowed in dumpsters, but they often need to be recycled separately due to the specific materials they contain. Here’s how you can prepare your electronics for proper disposal:

1. Remove Batteries: Before disposing of any electronic device, always remove any batteries it contains. Batteries, especially lithium-ion batteries, can pose a fire risk if damaged or exposed to high temperatures. They also have materials that can harm the environment if not disposed of properly.
2. Separate Electronics: Keep your electronics separate from other waste. Many waste management companies have special programs for electronic waste, or e-waste, and can provide separate containers or pick-up services.
3. Recycle Properly: Electronics should be recycled at a certified e-waste recycling facility. These facilities have the equipment and knowledge to safely dismantle electronics and recover valuable materials.
4. Data Security: Before you dispose of computers or smartphones, make sure to erase all personal data. You can do this by performing a factory reset or using specialized software.

How To Dispose of Refrigerators and air conditioners – disconnect and drain Freon

Before disposing of refrigerators and air conditioners, it’s important to follow these steps to ensure safe and environmentally friendly disposal:

1. Remove Doors: For safety reasons, especially to prevent children from getting trapped, it’s recommended to remove the doors of the refrigerator or freezer.
2. Drain Freon: Both refrigerators and air conditioners contain Freon (a brand of refrigerant), which is a chlorofluorocarbon that can harm the ozone layer if released into the atmosphere. It’s important to have a professional HVAC technician or a certified appliance recycler drain the Freon. It’s illegal to intentionally release Freon into the atmosphere.
3. Recycle or Dispose Properly: Once the Freon has been safely removed, the appliance can be recycled or disposed of properly. Many municipalities have special recycling programs for appliances, and some even offer pick-up services. Alternatively, you can take the appliance to a local recycling center or junkyard that accepts appliances.
4. Document the Process: Keep a record of who removed the refrigerant and when, in case you need to prove that the refrigerant was properly removed.

How To Dispose of Lawnmowers or other lawn equipment – drain gas and oil tanks

Before disposing of lawnmowers or other lawn equipment, it’s crucial to safely drain the gas and oil tanks. Here’s how you can do it:

1. Safety First: Before you start, make sure you’re in a well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors. Wear protective gloves and eyewear to protect yourself from any accidental spills.
2. Drain the Gasoline: To drain the gasoline, you’ll first need to disconnect the spark plug for safety. Then, using a siphon pump, you can transfer the gasoline from the mower’s tank into an approved container. If you don’t have a siphon pump, you can tilt the mower on its side and let the gas drain out into the container. Be sure to do this slowly to avoid spills.
3. Drain the Oil: To drain the oil, locate the drain plug underneath the mower. Place an oil drain pan or a similar container underneath the plug, then unscrew the plug and let the oil drain out. Once all the oil has drained, replace the plug securely.
4. Dispose of Fluids Properly: Never pour gasoline or oil down the drain or into the ground. These are hazardous materials and need to be disposed of properly. Many local waste facilities or auto parts stores will accept used oil and gasoline for recycling.
5. Clean the Equipment: Before disposal, clean the equipment to remove any remaining oil or gas residue. This can be done using a rag and a mild detergent.

Not allowed:

• Dead animals: The disposal of deceased animals in dumpsters is strictly prohibited due to health and safety regulations and ethical considerations.
• Asbestos: This is a hazardous material and requires special disposal procedures. It’s commonly found in older homes and buildings.
• Medical Waste: This includes needles, bandages, and other materials that could be contaminated with bloodborne pathogens.
• Radioactive Material: This includes certain types of smoke detectors and other items containing radioactive isotopes.
• Chemicals: This includes both household chemicals like cleaners and industrial chemicals. They can be hazardous and need to be disposed of properly.
• Explosives: This includes fireworks, ammunition, and other explosive materials.
• Propane Tanks: These can explode under pressure and are unsafe to dispose of in a dumpster.
• Electronic Waste includes items like computers, televisions, and cell phones. They often contain hazardous materials like lead and mercury and must be recycled properly.
• Automotive Fluids: This includes motor oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and antifreeze. These are considered hazardous waste and need to be disposed of properly.
• Pesticides and Herbicides: These can contaminate the soil and groundwater and must be disposed of properly.
• Lead Acid Batteries: These are commonly found in cars and trucks and must be recycled properly.
• Large Appliances: This includes refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and other large appliances. These often contain refrigerants that are harmful to the environment.
• Fluorescent Light Bulbs: These contain mercury and need to be recycled properly.

Legal Terms:

All terms and conditions are subject to change without notice. The customer is responsible for complying with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to waste disposal. The customer is also responsible for any fines or penalties incurred due to non-compliance. American On-Site reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

1. Acceptance of Terms: By using our services, you agree to the terms and conditions outlined in this agreement. These terms may be updated from time to time without notice to you. You can review the most current version of the terms at any time on our website.
2. Service Terms: The customer agrees to allow American On-Site to enter their property for the purposes of delivering and removing the dumpster. The customer is responsible for providing unobstructed access to the dumpster on the scheduled delivery and pickup dates.
3. Payment: Payment is due upon receipt of the invoice. Late payments may be subject to additional fees.
4. Limitation of Liability: American On-Site will not be liable for any damage to property caused by the dumpster, including but not limited to damage to lawns, driveways, sidewalks, buildings, or other structures.
5. Prohibited Items: Certain items are prohibited from being disposed of in the dumpster, including but not limited to hazardous materials, flammable materials, tires, batteries, and appliances containing Freon. The customer is responsible for any fines or penalties incurred due to the disposal of prohibited items.
6. Indemnification: The customer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless American On-Site from any and all claims, damages, and expenses, including reasonable attorney’s fees, arising out of the customer’s use of the dumpster.
7. Governing Law: This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state in which the service is provided.
8. Dispute Resolution: Any disputes arising from this agreement shall be resolved through binding arbitration in the state where the service is provided.
